The story
This documentary examines homoerotic relationships among historical figures, including Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller. Set against the period of Weimar Classicism, it considers how their friendships might relate to homosexuality as the concept is understood in the early twenty-first century. Rather than simply treating the historical relationships as self-evident examples, the film explores the extent to which that modern understanding can be applied to them.
