Meine schöne Bescherung (2007)

It is Christmas, and Jan and Sara spend a cheerful morning together as a loving married couple. Sara is married for the fourth time and brought three children from three marriages into the relationship; Jan is married for the second time and has a son from his first marriage. Without Sara’s knowledge, he has had a vasectomy because he does not want any more children. In the afternoon, shortly before the celebration, Sara surprises her husband with the news that she has invited her former spouses and their new partners to a festive Christmas Eve meal: her first husband, Andi, and his wife, Rita; her second husband, Gunnar, who is now married to Jan’s first wife, Eva; and her third husband, Erich, and his wife, Pauline. Jan is not pleased, but it is too late to cancel at such short notice. Erich and Pauline’s neighbor, Isabell, also shows up, along with the couples. The celebration follows its usual course, with aperitifs and verbal sparring. Jan inadvertently tells Rita that he has had a vasectomy. Shortly afterward, when Sara makes a speech at the table and reveals that she is expecting a child with Jan, he freezes and leaves the table. Once he has recovered from his initial shock, he tries to determine who the father might be. He is convinced that only one of Sara’s three ex-husbands could be the father, and speaks with each of them, but gets nowhere. When it becomes clear that the only man who has been with Sara was Santa Claus, events come to a head.
