standing|thumbnail|Christmas in Bullerby. Summer vacation is over, and it is time for the children in Bullerby to go back to school. Lisa begins telling about the first day of school and the autumn plowing, with her brothers Lasse and Bosse and the neighboring children Britta, Anna, Olle, and Kerstin. When winter comes, the children have to walk home from school in the middle of a snowstorm and take shelter with the grumpy shoemaker. On Christmas Day, all the families go to Aunt Jenny’s for a Christmas party, and the next day the children go skating on the lake. It ends with Lasse falling into a hole in the ice, but the other children rescue him. Then New Year’s Eve approaches, as the year 1929 is about to begin. The girls want to sneak up on the boys’ New Year’s Eve vigil, but the boys scare them with firecrackers from behind. Lisa then tells about an April Fool’s prank at school, when they adjust the teacher’s wall clock. Finally, Lisa tells about a weak little lamb she takes care of. It grows stronger and even follows her to school.
