Meurtres sur le lac Léman (2016)

As a CGN boat crosses Lake Geneva, it collides with a mermaid-shaped driftwood figure to which the lifeless body of a man is attached. When the body is brought to Thonon-les-Bains, it turns out that the figure was in the Swiss part of the lake, and that the man’s body is tattooed with the logo of a football team from Mont-sur-Lausanne. To solve what appears to be a murder, Lausanne’s integrity unit sends an investigator to the Thonon-les-Bains gendarmerie. Louis Jolly, a gendarmerie captain, must therefore team up with Sandrine Zermatten, a captain in the Lausanne police. As the mystery deepens on both sides of the border, a mysterious accident that left a young man in a coma for five years—and who eventually died a month ago—complicates the investigation. What’s more, Alice, the dead young man’s fiancée, seems to have disappeared, while the Mangin brothers are being sought by both the police and the killer. Meanwhile, Louis investigates who Sandrine really is and why she is receiving calls from Aïsha, his ex, whom he refuses to divorce despite the judge’s repeated reminders. After searching her mobile phone and asking his superior to make inquiries through a friend in the Swiss police, Louis finally learns that Sandrine, besides being a police captain, is also the sister of his ex Aïsha’s lover, who is also a police officer in Lausanne... When one of the Mangin brothers is found murdered in the same way, Alice’s body is also found dead on a beach. She appears to have been dead for two weeks. But who could have committed all these revenge-driven murders? Especially as Évian-les-Bains’s “Festival of the Driftwood Figures” is about to begin.
