Mijn bijzonder rare week met Tess (2019)

Sam is a thinker. For instance, he digs a deep hole on the beach so he can lie in it and think about death. Then his father invites him to play soccer with him and his brother. While they are playing, Jorre (Sam’s brother) falls into the hole. They take him to the local doctor. Sam is sent away because he asks strange questions. Outside, he meets Tess, the doctor’s daughter. She invites him to help her learn salsa. When Jorre has to go to the mainland hospital, Sam stays with Tess. On their way to the shop to buy flowers, Tess gets a phone call saying that the guests for the holiday cottage have already arrived. She quickly goes with Sam to the cottage to welcome them. Sam suspects there is something going on between Tess and the man in the couple staying at the cottage. When Sam confronts Tess about it on the way back, she drops him off, and Sam has to walk all the way back to his holiday home. At some point, Sam realizes that Tess isn’t in love with the man, but that he is her father. Tess’s mother doesn’t even know he is here. When Tess tries to tell her father that he is her father, he says he is glad he has no children, after which Tess decides not to tell him. On the last day of the holiday, Sam decides to leave and go think by himself on the beach. When he gets stuck in the sand, he thinks his time has come, but then Hille, a beachcomber, comes to rescue him. As they talk, Sam learns that it isn’t just being alone that matters, but collecting memories. He then decides to go to Tess’s father and tell him that he is Tess’s father.
