The story
In the aftermath of the Second World War, the beginnings of European construction are difficult, and resentments remain deep. Against this unsettled backdrop, the story follows Marie, a Frenchwoman, and Jürgen, a German soldier, whose love began during the war. In 1950, they face the question of whether that relationship, once deemed impossible, can finally become possible amid the bitterness and political challenges of postwar Europe.
