Their lives are turned upside down when their nine-year-old son, Olivier, disappears without explanation after setting off by bicycle to visit his ailing grandmother in the neighboring town. The investigation turns up nothing, and the family is left devastated, not knowing whether Olivier was kidnapped, murdered, or ran away. A few years later, the police officer who led the search is transferred to Paris. One day, he comes across a homeless teenager who sells sex and whose appearance reminds him of young Olivier.
