Plünderich (2023)

Marcel Lange is an ambitious young entrepreneur with big plans. In his home region, the Rhenish lignite-mining district, he wants to redevelop his old home village with the support of his employer, the energy company “ÖZEV.” Its residents are supposed to leave and move to the new high-end town of “Neu-Plünderich.” Full of enthusiasm, Marcel persuades his mentor and supervisor, Hartmut, to build the first villa in “Neu-Plünderich am See.” But to win ÖZEV over completely, the old village must be entirely cleared out. Marcel’s own sister, Franca, stands in his way. She has occupied the old family home in “Alt-Plünderich” and now refuses to leave. With her protest, she wants to prevent the destruction of nature and of her hometown. To reinforce her position, Franca plans to develop an electricity storage system powered by solar energy. The entire village is meant to benefit from it and become self-sufficient. Together with her buddy Vitali and her jealous ex-boyfriend Uwe, who has switched sides while working for ÖZEV, Franca does everything she can to protect Alt-Plünderich and defend her family home.
