Full plot (contains spoilers)
Rose (Françoise Fabian), 78, has just lost her husband, with whom she shared her whole life. Crushed by grief, she drifts into a kind of self-neglect, spending her time watching television, alone and neglecting her appearance. Once the pillar of her Tunisian Jewish family, she seems to be gradually fading away. But one evening, when her daughter (Aure Atika) takes her along to a dinner, Rose crosses paths with Marceline (Michèle Moretti), a Holocaust survivor full of irreverence and vitality. This unexpected encounter acts as a turning point: pain gives way to an unsuspected appetite for life. Rose starts cooking again, laughing, going out, making herself look beautiful, and even falling in love. This new lease on life—with vodka, Yiddish music and late-in-life flirtations—bewilders her children, who struggle to accept that their mother still wants to live life to the full, freely and sensually.
