A music-loving woman’s involvement in church music stirs renewed desire for life—and provokes resistance—in her village.
The story
Lena, a music lover who had a relationship with renowned conductor Daniel Daréus in the previous film, is at the center of events in her village. The village priest, Stig, faces waning interest in the church and difficulties in his private life. With the church due for renovation and a ceremonial rededication planned, Lena becomes involved in its music. Her participation sets off events that rekindle people’s desire and longing for life, while her ideas and methods provoke others. The story follows these tensions as the community prepares for the church ceremony.

Heaven on Earth revolves around the music-loving Lena, who in the previous film had a relationship with Daniel Daréus, the renowned conductor who had returned to his hometown. The village priest, Stig, is struggling with declining interest in the church and problems in his private life. In this film, he has a more central role, as the church is to be renovated and rededicated with great ceremony. When Lena becomes involved in the church music, it sets off a series of events that rekindle people’s desire and longing for life. At the same time, others are provoked by Lena’s ideas and methods.
