Full plot (contains spoilers)
The Princess of Monte Cabello, who is divorced from her husband, is granted custody of her daughter. Her ex-husband’s lover hires private investigators, who manage to obtain apparently incriminating photographs of the princess with Jacques Wilson. The princess is devastated; her daughter is taken away from her, and she falls into Wilson’s clutches. To pay his gambling debts, he forces her to humiliate herself by appearing in a game. The princess sends a note to the Prince of Monte Cabello, declaring that she will no longer compromise his name.
