Full plot (contains spoilers)

Beate Schorlemmer is a student from a wealthy family. Her father has always indulged her every whim, and the girl no longer knows what she wants. Mischievous and spoiled, she falls in love with Torsten Agast, the literature teacher in her class, even though he is the same age as his son Dieter. In her efforts to attract his attention, she resorts to rather naive and crude attempts, which the teacher meets with a reserved, cold manner, making it clear to her that her tricks are useless. Beate is not discouraged and hopes to get close to Agast by courting his son; meanwhile, she asks her father to make a donation to the school. In the meantime, Norma Berg, a new young teacher, arrives, and Beate inevitably becomes jealous of her. During the school party held in honor of the donation, an embarrassing argument breaks out. Norma Berg and Professor Agast have indeed grown fond of one another, and Beate’s jealousy increasingly turns into blind hatred: the student decides to take revenge by any means possible. Beate gets herself invited to Agast’s apartment under a pretext, where she tears her blouse and starts screaming, accusing the teacher of molesting her. Dieter, infatuated with the girl, believes her claims and turns against his father. The matter causes a scandal, and the professor decides to submit himself voluntarily to a trial. Following a complaint filed by Beate’s father, the professor is suspended and even arrested. The situation seems hopeless. Only Norma Berg and a few students believe Agast is innocent. Realizing there is no way to expose the girl through legal means, Beate’s classmates, with the help of a student whom Beate has also courted, set up a “student court” and use a trick to force her to confess in writing that she made the accusation up. Dieter finds his way back to his father, who, fully cleared of the charges, becomes the principal of a newly built high school and marries Norma Berg. Beate is sent by her parents to a boarding school in Switzerland, but even before she leaves, her eyes fall on a fellow traveler.
