Full plot (contains spoilers)

Hamburg neighborhood crook Johnny is experiencing his first day of freedom after a stay in prison. A phone call lures him to the Reeperbahn that evening, where, through a chain of several unfortunate circumstances, he is shot dead by Manfred, a drunk postal worker. In several interwoven episodes, the film recounts the previous day from the perspectives of the people involved, including a taxi driver, a petty criminal, a transgender prostitute, and two teenagers. At the end, it turns out that the call that lured Johnny to Hamburg’s red-light district was a fake call made by two teenagers as a prank.
