Uwe is convinced he witnessed her murder, but because he was completely drunk at the time of the suspected crime, he himself becomes a suspect. His friend, father, and persistent Detective Gabi Stolze all want to know where Susi is—or where her body is. Left alone with his suspicions, Uwe begins investigating on his own.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Matringen, a sleepy little town in Swabia. Here, Uwe Krollhass—a binge drinker, an outsider, and a scrap-metal tinkerer—is known by everyone, though he is not very popular: his abrasive manner gets on everyone’s nerves. No one believes a word the blabbermouth says, not even when Uwe is convinced that he witnessed the murder of Susi Berger, who so wanted to become Miss South Germany. In any case, the beautiful Susi remains missing after a festival. And because Uwe was completely drunk at the time of the suspected crime, he himself comes under suspicion. Friend, father, and above all the persistent Detective Gabi Stolze—everyone wants to know from him where Susi is. Or at least where her body is. Left alone with his suspicions, Uwe conducts his own investigation and delves ever deeper into the dark truths buried beneath Matringen’s idyllic small-town surface.
