The story

Christine lives in the Paris suburbs with her husband Jean and their children, while weekends in Haute-Normandie bring her and longtime friends Sylvette and Ulrich to neighboring country houses. During a supermarket visit, Christine claims a space in a crowded parking lot just as an aggressive woman says she had been waiting for it. Christine refuses to give it up, and the woman takes her children into the store. Christine tells Sylvette about the encounter; while Christine waits at the checkout, the woman confronts her again. Sylvette and Ulrich also have children, including daughter Charlotte, who has a boyfriend, Erwan.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In Haute-Normandie, Christine (Karin Viard) is looking for a parking space in a full lot. She spots a car about to pull out, reverses, and quickly parks in the space that has just been vacated. An aggressive woman (Aurore Broutin) berates her, saying she has just taken the space the woman was waiting for and demanding that she give it up. Christine refuses. The woman leaves her car where it is, gets her children out, and goes into the supermarket. Christine tells her friend and neighbor Sylvette (Noémie Lvovsky) about the unpleasant experience. Inside the supermarket, Christine is waiting in line at the checkout. The woman berates her again. Christine is married to Jean (Jacques Gamblin), a trombonist. Sylvette is married to Ulrich (Ulrich Tukur). They have known one another since they were teenagers. They live in the Paris suburbs. To spend weekends in the country, they have bought neighboring houses in a village in Haute-Normandie. Christine and Jean have two sons and a daughter. Sylvette and Ulrich have a daughter, Charlotte (Iliana Zabeth), and a son. Charlotte has a boyfriend, Erwan (Finnegan Oldfield). One day, Christine visits Sylvette and Ulrich and tells them that Jean has left. She drove him to the train station. On the way, angry, she stops the car and hits him. Without saying a word, Jean overpowers her and gets behind the wheel. Jean's cell phone rings; Christine grabs it and throws it out the window into a field. Jean gets out of the car and looks for his phone. Christine gets out and throws Jean's luggage around the car and into the field. On the station platform, Christine desperately tries to catch Jean's eye, but he stares into space without speaking. He gets on the train. She cries, stands outside the window level with the seat where he is sitting, and calls to him, but he does not look at her. The train pulls away. She runs along the platform, continuing to shout his name.
