After an injured horse from a slaughterhouse enters her life, a girl who has stopped riding may find a way to help her grandmother’s struggling stable.
The story
Twelve-year-old Wendy moves with her parents to her grandmother Herta’s somewhat run-down riding stable, Rosenborg, for the summer holidays. The stable is competing with a much more modern one nearby, St. Georg, run by Ulrike Immhof. Wendy used to be an enthusiastic rider, but after a serious accident she has not dared to get on a horse again. When she comes across Dixie, an injured horse that has escaped from the slaughterhouse, she forms a friendship with him—one that may also help Rosenborg.
