Winnetous Weiber (2014)

Maren Bogner, a single mother, is a huge fan of Pierre Brice. Together with her daughter Nora and her friend Gabriele Hochmann, she travels to Croatia to take a guided horseback tour of the locations where the Karl May films were shot. There, they meet their fellow travelers: stud farm owner Elisabeth zu Hallbach-Süren and her assistant, Simone Lehmann. The tour operator, Manitou-Tours, provides the women with a local guide named Alejandro. During the four-day trip, various conflicts come to the surface. The women struggle with the basic accommodations in the great outdoors, and there are also interpersonal disputes. Maren learns that Nora plans to move out of the family home soon and has to confess to her daughter that she spent the money in Nora’s training account, which had been saved by Nora’s father. Elisabeth zu Hallbach-Süren, whose husband recently died, tells her employee that she knew about her affair with her husband. When the group finds a prop from the DEFA Indian films, Maren and Gabriele get into an argument, and Gabriele explains that she grew up in East Germany. During the ensuing scuffle, a shot goes off from Alejandro’s revolver and wounds him in the thigh. After the incident, the tour group splits up. Simone Lehmann rides with Alejandro to the nearest town. Elisabeth tells the other women that her husband was a great Karl May fan and that she wants to scatter his ashes in Silver Lake. When Nora’s horse bolts, Elisabeth rides after her. Meanwhile, Gabriele tells her friend Maren that she is a lesbian and is in love with her. Dieter and Gerd, two German men who also booked with Manitou-Tours, harass the two women; only after Elisabeth and Nora intervene do the men flee. When the four women reach Silver Lake, they find that it has nothing in common with the romantic image from the film. They ride on to find another place for the ashes.
