Full plot (contains spoilers)
To escape her stepfather, Omar, the powerful lord of the city, Zaïna must leave with her father, Mustapha, after her mother’s death. He has to lead his tribe’s horses to the great race in Marrakech. They do not know each other, because Omar had Zaïna confined with her mother, Selma, from early childhood: he was consumed by his love for Selma and harassed her relentlessly, to the point of causing her death. The young girl and Mustapha get to know each other during the journey and learn to love one another, especially as Zaïna gradually discovers her mother’s secret.
