Full plot (contains spoilers)
The young Sónia meets people in a psychiatric hospital who believe themselves to be figures from the Bible and from European history and literary history. Their conversations shift between hazy and lucid, and include quotations from the Bible and works by Dostoevsky, José Régio, and Nietzsche. The scenes and conversations revolve around philosophical questions and the joy of being alive, as well as sex as an exalted ideal and power as an overriding goal. For some, death is the absolute limit of this human-made comedy; for others, it is the path to accepting suffering and then achieving ultimate triumph through resurrection.
