Uncertain of her father’s identity, Ivana searches for him online, unaware that her mother is a wealthy owner of an upscale brothel.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film *Devil’s Town* is a darkly comic work of fiction based on true stories from everyday life, and its events unfold across two seasons: summer and winter. Its main characters are ordinary people: teenagers, taxi drivers, entrepreneurs, prostitutes, the unemployed, pensioners, tycoons, unfulfilled artists, returnees from abroad, and other sections of society. It is a film about people driven by basic human needs—instincts, obsessions, ambitions, fears, and frustrations. The film is structured as a dynamic, multi-strand story featuring several connected characters whose paths cross in a single day. Jelena wants to play tennis, but her parents cannot provide that for her. Her mother is a mathematician who makes a living doing work in people’s homes. Her father has devoted himself to spiritual life and wants to become a monk. Ivana is Jelena’s best friend. She plays tennis, and her mother is a wealthy owner of an upscale brothel. Ivana thinks her mother is a translator and does not know who her father is, so she searches for him online. Ćiril is the son of a powerful tycoon who can buy anything with money. His girlfriend, Natalija, leaves him and goes off with an older man, Boris. Boris has invested all the savings he earned abroad in building a property. A pensioner and former gynecologist goes to a brothel because he wants one last look. A taxi driver has made a list of the people he blames for everything in his life. Viktor watches tennis all day and looks after a baby. He’ll find a job, just as long as “our guys win it all.” Miloš is a worker who was unfairly fired and is desperately looking for a job. His friend Filomen has already found one: he has come up with the idea of making a film about Devil’s Town and getting money from the state.
