Louis and Beutolomäus must begin investigating the accusation.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Little Louis has to move again and again with his mother because she is an artist who never stays in the same place for long. He dislikes this, since he can never make friends. After yet another move, Louis arrives in the small town of Hutzeldorf and writes a letter to Santa Claus. He writes down his only wish: “Real friends at last.” But even Santa Claus has to admit defeat, since he cannot give anyone real friends, either. When Louis comes under suspicion of damaging the Nativity scene in the church, Santa Claus sends his good friend Beutolomäus to Hutzeldorf to help find the real culprit. Working as detectives together, the two manage to identify David as the culprit after comparing various clues and footprints. As things later turn out, however, David did not damage the Nativity scene intentionally; he did it only to prove to his girlfriend Julia that he loved her. David admits what he did to Louis and urges him to report his confession to the police. Louis, however, understands what happened and promises David to keep his secret. But when the police appear at the church to arrest Louis, David steps out from the background and admits that he alone is to blame. All the members of the congregation spontaneously decide to repair the damage together. The story ends with a peaceful Nativity play in the church. In the final scene, Santa Claus sets off with Beutolomäus to bring Christmas presents to children all over the world.
