Full plot (contains spoilers)

An eccentric schlager star, Harry Hansen, is depressed after the death of his life and singing partner and feels all his zest for life draining away. He hires Rosa Echte, an unemployed top chef, as his housekeeper. Rosa has been through a lot. Her ex-boyfriend not only took her restaurant from her, but also all her money. Rosa’s daughter Tanja, who is still at school, is not only pregnant but also wants to leave school without graduating and hopes to make a career as a poet. Anastasia Arendt, a longtime dear friend who works as a restroom attendant, helps them and mediates when they argue, so Tanja—who has been staying with a school friend in the meantime—returns home. Rosa’s job in the Hansen household suits everyone involved. Harry’s friend and neighbor Nicolaus, a plastic surgeon, turns on the charm with Rosa. After several unanswered calls from Vivien, the twin sister of Harry’s deceased partner, they finally speak on the phone, and Harry ends the conversation by inviting her to visit. Vivien lives in New Zealand. Rosa is initially wary of the enigmatic woman, but grows increasingly suspicious and tries to do something about Vivien’s growing influence. She has a bad feeling about Vivien’s story of her supposedly sick daughter, who allegedly needs an expensive operation urgently. Rosa is sure something is wrong. Since Nicolaus is on her side, the two decide to get to the bottom of it. Before that, however, Vivien had persuaded Harry to fire Rosa. Vivien saw her plans threatened by Rosa’s suspicions and led Harry to believe that Rosa was after his money. Nicolaus’s investigation reveals that the woman pretending to be Vivien is Barbara Kunze, a former employee of the real Vivien. With the help of Rosa’s daughter Tanja, the trio manages to recover the 250,000 euros Hansen had already transferred for the supposed operation. Furious that her plan has failed and that she has had to transfer the money back, Barbara Kunze storms off. Harry Hansen, who has regained his zest for life largely thanks to Rosa, thanks her by saying that she is the only woman he regrets not being a man. Nicolaus immediately protests that he has a very different opinion about that. Everyone raises a toast to the late Anastasia. Nicolaus asks Rosa to marry him.
