A lonely journalist's impulsive call to a stranger grows into an unlikely connection complicated by the stories he tells about himself.
The story
François Perrin is a minor journalist who reads the news on RTL and lives alone, with occasional conversation from his next-door neighbor as his main diversion. One bored evening, he calls a random phone number and reaches Christine, a pharmacist who is somewhat of an old maid. She initially hesitates to end the call but becomes involved in the game with the charming stranger. After a date fails to happen, François tries to spend time with her while hiding his modest circumstances behind claims that he is a famous foreign correspondent and, in other calls, a great writer. Christine, meanwhile, must disentangle herself from family life and overbearing relatives.

Meanwhile, she has to untangle herself from her family life—and, above all, from her somewhat overbearing relatives...
