Full plot (contains spoilers)
During a dinner hosted by the Biot (Alpes-Maritimes) merchants’ association, Marie Lemaire feels unwell and decides to go home. The next day, she is found dead, having been poisoned. She was the heir to her husband François, who had died a few months earlier, and also the owner of an important glassworks in the village. All the guests at the dinner become suspects, and the investigators must establish their possible motives and verify each person’s alibi. Prosecutor Elisabeth Richard and Gendarmerie Captain Charles Jouanic face a complex case, as everyone who attended the dinner could have had reason to seek revenge on Marie. The investigation becomes even more complicated when someone in Marie’s circle of friends apparently commits suicide, leaving a note confessing to the poisoning.
