Full plot (contains spoilers)
The writer Max Rhode receives a call from a stranger, who tells him that his foster daughter Jola is in danger and that he should meet him. Max follows up, but when he arrives at the agreed meeting place, the stranger’s car explodes, killing him too. Meanwhile, a burglar gives Max’s daughter Jola, whom he has left home alone, knockout drops. After finding Jola’s underwear and pictures in Max’s desk, the police accuse him of rape, but his lawyer Toffi manages to get him released from custody. The next day, when the youth welfare office and the police show up at the door, Max flees with his daughter while his wife, Kim, holds the police back. During their escape, Max and Jola have an accident, and Jola is kidnapped. Max ends up in the hospital, under police guard. However, he escapes and takes Frida Blum, a parcel delivery worker, hostage, making her drive him to his brother Cosmo, who gives him a gun. As Max and Frida continue driving, Max falls asleep. Frida takes the gun and points it at him, but Max makes it clear that his daughter is in danger, and she helps him. They learn from a man that Joshua is a program capable of predicting crimes before they are committed. Max, Cosmo, and Frida then kidnap an employee of the organization so that Frida can use her ID to sneak into the building and plant a baby monitor. They learn that Joshua is to be sold for a great deal of money and that Max is being monitored as a test subject because he is supposed to murder his daughter. To ensure this, everything is adjusted so that Max really is supposed to murder her. To put pressure on them, Max kidnaps the boss’s daughter and demands his own daughter in exchange. For the time being, he hands the boss’s daughter over to Frida, who then turns her in to the police. When Max returns to his brother’s place without a plan, he finds his novel, The Blood School, in which he has in effect written about his terrible childhood, with annotations by Cosmo that supplement Max’s memories. He then goes to the place where his father tried to teach him and his brother to kill, believing Jola is there. This proves to be true, and he finds her. His brother, who has suddenly appeared, overpowers the guard, who has also suddenly appeared. Finally, the police and emergency services arrive.
