Der Hafenpastor (2012)

Pastor Stefan Book of St. Pauli Church is responsible for Schanze, Karo, and the Kiez. He devotes himself to his calling with all his heart and soul, to the point that after pushing his body too hard, he is ordered by his doctor to rest. He gets a new nurse, Evelyn Krietsch. But when he leaves the hospital, his problems are already piling up again. Not only has his church been broken into several times, but the young African woman Adoma Fauré is also hiding there. Fauré, now eighteen, once came to Germany illegally from Africa and is due to be deported to her homeland, Togo, after passing her Abitur. To Pastor Book, the answer is clear: the young woman will be granted sanctuary in the church until her case is reheard in court. This makes the young woman happy, but several senior church officials, including church councilor Elke Cornelius, are not at all pleased. Stefan’s sister Rita Book, a police officer handling the case, is also unhappy that she is being prevented from carrying out her duty to arrest the young woman. At least Sabine Sattler from the immigration office, with whom Stefan hits it off immediately, helps him. But other problems also weigh on the pastor, including his fickle daughter, petty criminal Dennis, and pimp Bodo Schüler.
