Two financially unequal sisters’ families reunite under one roof, where old tensions begin to rise.
The story
A year after Ernella, her husband Albert, and their 10-year-old daughter Laura leave Hungary for Scotland in search of a better life, the family has failed to settle there. In the middle of the night, they arrive at the home of Ernella’s sister Eszter. Eszter lives with her husband Farkas and their five-year-old son Bruno in much more comfortable circumstances than Ernella’s financially struggling family. Though the sisters disagree about nearly everything, Ernella enjoys being with Eszter. The families have a history of discord, and sharing a home gradually intensifies their tensions.

A year ago, Ernella, Albert, and their 10-year-old daughter Laura left Hungary in search of a better life in Scotland. But they fail to settle there, and in the middle of the night they find themselves on the doorstep of Ernella’s sister Eszter. Eszter, her husband Farkas, and their five-year-old son Bruno live in much better circumstances than Ernella and her family, who are struggling financially. The two families have never really lived in harmony with each other, and although the two sisters agree on nothing, Ernella loves being with Eszter. Tensions gradually rise as the two families live under the same roof.
