Full plot (contains spoilers)
A baron, with the help of a struggling actress, stages the theft of the valuables car on a train, keeping the conductor and the passengers at bay—a cross-section of humanity: a member of parliament with his divorced secretary, a psychiatrist with a patient under his care, two newlyweds on their honeymoon, a trendy singer with his assistant, and a rich, debauched woman. The heist succeeds, but the loot is squandered on producing an epic film, and the venture ends in a loss. The baron then tries to steal a large shipment of currency loaded onto a ferry, but a sudden seamen’s strike scuppers the plan. He then sets his sights on a shipment of diamonds loaded onto a plane departing from Fiumicino and bound for Amsterdam.
