The story
After their mother dies, Philippe and his brother are the only family members left. They are opposites: his brother announces the weather on television, while Philippe has failed for the second time to defend his doctoral thesis about narcissism in the Soviet and American space programs. Philippe works in the telemarketing department of the newspaper Le Soleil and is alone. Needing an address, he begins making a video for SETI, which is organizing a worldwide contest for messages to be broadcast into space for possible extraterrestrials.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
With their mother having just died, Philippe and his brother (Lepage plays both characters), who are complete opposites, are the only members of the family left. While his brother is a television weather announcer, Philippe fails, for the second time, to defend his doctoral thesis on the importance of narcissism in the odyssey of the Soviet and American space programs. He works in the telemarketing department of the newspaper Le Soleil. Alone, but needing an address like every human being, he begins making a video for SETI. The organization is holding a worldwide contest for messages to be broadcast into space for possible extraterrestrials. It is on his return from a trip to Moscow, where he was supposed to speak about his thesis subject, that Philippe learns his video has been selected and that the two brothers are growing close again.
