Full plot (contains spoilers)

Enrico Giusti’s job is to persuade business owners and young heirs to industrial groups—people who are indifferent to the fate of the companies they run—to sell them to someone else, in order to avert bankruptcy and minimize losses and layoffs. At least, that is what he believes, because his employers, Carlo Bernini and his father, actually seem to be interested in cashing in on financial transactions when companies change hands. In particular, two chance encounters will make him rethink his role and change the course of his life. The first is with Achinoam, his brother’s ex-girlfriend, a young Israeli woman who attempts suicide after his brother leaves her at Enrico’s home, unable to tell her the truth. Later, he meets two teenagers—18-year-old Filippo and 13-year-old Camilla—the sole heirs to the family fortune alongside their uncle Umberto. They have been orphaned after their parents, who ran a multinational group employing thousands of people, died in a car accident in a lake.
