A theater actor impersonates a wealthy Brazilian aunt, unaware that the real woman is secretly in Spain judging her nephew’s worthiness as an heir.
The story
Theater actor Fermín Recuero is recruited for an emergency impersonation: he must pose as Brazilian multimillionaire Doña Lucía Castelo Encantado da Selva Fermosa so that her nephew Carlos can marry alongside his friend Alberto to the daughters of Don Servando Becerra. The arrangement is needed because the aunt has not appeared, and her presence is considered essential to the wedding taking place. Unknown to those organizing the substitute, the real Doña Lucía has already arrived in Spain. She keeps her presence secret while assessing whether Carlos deserves to inherit from her, setting up a collision between the staged identity and the aunt’s private test.
