La verità, vi spiego, sull'amore (2017)

Dora is a thirty-nine-year-old woman who lives in Turin with her partner, Davide, and their two young children, Pietro and Anna. The family’s routine is suddenly disrupted when, after seven years of living together, Davide decides to leave their home and move elsewhere. Left to face the daily responsibilities, care for the children, and return to the world of work on her own, Dora goes through a period of deep disorientation. Her best friend Sara steps in to help and suggests hiring a babysitter to look after the children during working hours. They choose Simone, an unconventional school caretaker who is passionate about poetry and is currently Sara’s partner. Simone builds a good relationship with the children and helps manage the household. At the same time, Dora has to contend with Davide’s overbearing mother, Mimì, a stern and judgmental woman. As time passes, however, their daily encounters lead to mutual understanding and an unexpected rapprochement. By reorganizing her routine and with help from Simone and Mimì, Dora gets past her initial denial and comes to accept the end of her relationship with Davide and her family’s new circumstances.
