Full plot (contains spoilers)
In the mid-1970s, Simon (Vincent Elbaz) and his gang live in the working-class Belleville neighborhood in the [unspecified] arrondissement of Paris. After several petty thefts land him in prison, he meets Mohamed Badaoui (Sami Bouajila), nicknamed Casa, with whom he turns to major crime and becomes, along with his gang, a highly effective bank robber. During a robbery, he notices Julie (Clémence Poésy), a wealthy student, whom he later runs into by chance in a bistro in Montparnasse and falls madly in love with. After experiencing the gangster life—on the run, using a false identity, spending without limit in clubs, casinos and luxury hotels, and even being sentenced to death in absentia—Simon and Casa return to Paris and decide to target banks’ safe-deposit rooms, specializing in disguises, wigs, fake mustaches and false beards. After a series of spectacular and successful robberies, the police, led by Commissioner Brevard (Patrick Descamps), decide to put a forceful stop to the gang’s activities.
