Paganini (1923)

The world of music is shaken: Paganini is dead! But during the funeral service, the supposedly dead man comes back to life. The Devil’s violinist begins to turn his life around, leaves his wife, and starts an affair with a duchess. Her husband then challenges Paganini to a sword duel, but falls onto the blade of his own fencing weapon and dies. Paganini is accused of murder and thrown into prison. When he is freed from the dungeon with the duchess’s help, it is she who has him shot after realizing that the Italian has long since changed his affections and has now chosen a simple girl from the common people. But the shot does not hit the unfaithful Paganini; instead, it strikes the innocent Giulietta. The pain of this loss eventually leads to Paganini’s death during a concert greeted by thunderous applause.
