Full plot (contains spoilers)
Winter in the Bavarian Alps: Ski instructor Sepp Kapfinger is good friends with Bertl Unteraigner, a ski instructor, mountaineer, and heartthrob, but secretly envies him because Bertl teaches the beautiful women while Sepp has to teach everyone else. On top of that, Bertl is dating Franzi, Sepp’s former great love, which also bothers him, even though Sepp is now newly engaged. One day, when American millionaire’s daughter Helen Jones announces that she will be visiting the winter sports resort, Sepp tries to bribe his way into teaching her. After one look, however, Helen chooses Bertl, who is to give her private lessons. The two spend more and more time together—to Franzi’s great displeasure. She now tries to make Bertl jealous by staging an affair between herself and Vinzenz. The plan fails, because Bertl now thinks he means nothing to Franzi. He therefore agrees to go with Helen to the Italian Riviera. There, he stays in a luxurious hotel and goes from one party to the next with Helen. He is increasingly bothered by the fact that Helen spends much more time with her friends than with him. When Helen announces their engagement at a big party, he is completely taken aback. Even after he repeatedly asks her for a brief conversation, she cannot spare him a minute, so Bertl returns to his hometown. Bob Webster, who has been courting Helen for years, realizes that she absolutely wants a skier and mountaineer for a husband, and gives her edelweiss while dressed in mountaineering gear. She immediately takes a liking to him. When Bertl arrives in his hometown, Sepp’s wedding is being celebrated there. At first, Bertl thinks Sepp has married Franzi, but Sepp has finally said “I do” to his fiancée. Bertl carries the bridesmaid Franzi away in his arms.
