The story
Separated for four years, Gabriel has made his nine-year-old daughter, Sofía, the center of his life and devotes his energy to her and his work, avoiding new romances. His resolve is challenged when Vicky, his high-school crush, reappears as an independent, carefree woman. As their attraction grows, Vicky tells him she would never date a man with children. Afraid of losing his chance with her, Gabriel lies about being a father. He then begins concealing every sign of Sofía before each date, restoring the home before his daughter returns.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Gabriel has been separated for four years. Since then, his nine-year-old daughter, Sofía, has been the center of his life. Firmly opposed to trying a new romantic relationship, Gabriel devotes all his energy to his daughter and his work. The father-daughter idyll is shaken by the appearance of Vicky, his high-school crush, now transformed into a beautiful, independent, carefree woman. As a romance becomes imminent, she sets one condition: she would never get involved with a man who has children. She doesn’t want children in her life. “Do you have children?” Vicky asks. Completely under her spell, Gabriel replies, “No, I don’t have children.” From that moment on, his life becomes a torment of schemes and concealment: before every date with Vicky, Gabriel “cleans” the house of toys, clothes, photographs, and any other trace of a child, locking everything away. When Vicky leaves, everything goes back in its place, and the house is ready to welcome Sofía.
