The story

Ana, a former ETA militant, lives in the small village of Bermillo de Sayago near the Portuguese border, where she works as a veterinarian with her friend and coworker, Darío. She shares her daily routine with him and her daughter, Blanca, while remaining emotionally closed off. Her life shifts when she meets José, an attractive man whose involvement in Spain’s dirty war connects him to Ana’s past. At the same time, active ETA members, including Ana’s old friend Fernando, gather. As these histories converge, the characters face unresolved grievances and seek to settle old scores in their own ways.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Ana is a former ETA militant who lives in a small village called Bermillo de Sayago, near the border with Portugal. She works as a veterinarian alongside her friend and coworker, Darío. She shares her daily chores and routine with him and with her daughter, Blanca. Ana is a woman closed off within herself, but one day she meets José, an attractive man who brings her back to the past, since José took part in Spain’s dirty war (GAL), carrying out attacks against Basque refugees on French soil. This is closely connected to Ana’s past, and at the same time coincides with a meeting of active ETA members, including Ana’s old friend Fernando. They will all try to settle old scores, each in their own way. At the end of the film, a sentence appears with the initials J. L. B. (Jorge Luis Borges): “I do not speak of revenge or forgiveness; forgetting is the only revenge and the only forgiveness.”
