A silent, observational documentary watches Europe’s large-scale food industries at work, from fields to factories and slaughterhouses.

The story

This documentary observes the operations of Europe’s largest food-processing industries, covering the production of fruit and vegetables as well as meat. Its footage moves among fields, factories, and slaughterhouses, recording industrial work through long, static shots. The film offers no accompanying music or commentary, leaving its images to present the processes and workplaces without spoken explanation. Even workers eating are filmed in the same sustained, observational manner.
