Full plot (contains spoilers)
Melanie Cattori, a singer trained in opera and the daughter of a music professor, falls in love with Freddy, the drummer in a jazz band that lives in the same building. Unfortunately, Melanie’s father is strongly opposed to jazz music. Freddy therefore tries to persuade a theater director to hire the jazz band for a revue. The jazz musicians are supported by Franz Huber, a general-store owner whose daughter Gretl takes part as a dancer. But only after the playwright forces the director to listen to the band by deliberately staging a car breakdown, and further difficulties are overcome, can the show be arranged. Even Father Cattori gives his daughter Melanie permission to take part. The performance is a success, and in the end three couples get together.
