The story
Quick-witted Jenny is driving her film producer’s Rolls-Royce to a film shoot and a wedding when she gets lost at night and finds a wreck in a ditch. She rescues a skinhead from the wreck and drives him to hospital, but the police stop her from continuing because of the broken headlight. The next morning, she visits him at a trailer encampment and threatens to sue him for 50,000 marks to make him accompany her to the shoot. Jenny has been fired and needs him to prove her innocence. On the way, they pick up Kola, a Black hitchhiker unsettled by the tense atmosphere.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The quick-witted and outspoken Jenny is driving her film producer’s Rolls-Royce, which she is supposed to deliver to a film shoot and a wedding. After getting lost at night, she comes across a wreck in a ditch and rescues a skinhead from it. Although he smashes her front headlight, she drives him to a hospital. He bleeds and vomits in the car on the way. The police won’t let her continue driving with the broken headlight, and in the meantime the skinhead has been discharged as well. The next morning, she visits the skinhead at a trailer encampment and forces him, threatening to sue him for 50,000 marks, to accompany her to the film shoot. She has been fired and needs the skinhead to prove her innocence. After two punks throw things at the car and they take a short break, they pick up Kola, a Black hitchhiker. He can’t cope with the tense atmosphere, however, and wants to get out at the next rest stop. But when the skinhead gets into a confrontation with youths of Turkish descent, Kola helps him at Jenny’s urging, and the two become friends as they continue their journey. After one of the youths makes a remark, Kola gives the skinhead the nickname “Dazlak” (Turkish for “skinhead”). As the journey continues, it emerges that Kola is actually studying astrophysics, while “Dazlak” works as a pâtissier and considers himself a working-class skinhead, not a bonehead. It also turns out that the accident was not caused by his drinking, but by his swerving to avoid a deer. The film shoot for which the Rolls-Royce is needed is, incidentally, for a softcore porn film. When they arrive on set, Jenny discovers that the film’s producer isn’t there at all and that she is supposed to drive the car back. The two other travelers are quickly recruited as porn actors; but when the director notices “Dazlak’s” swastika ring, a mass brawl breaks out. Once the catering is ready, though, everyone makes up, and filming of the porn can resume. On the return journey, the three travelers collide with a riderless motorcycle and pull a long-haired young man out of the ditch. He has apparently crashed and is now injured. On the way to the hospital, the young man makes a pass at Jenny. When they stop to relieve themselves, the four run into a group of pimps. The police arrive, but Kola and Jenny try to prevent the group from being arrested. In the end, however, everyone is in the police van, amused by the police officer’s strange gulping noises. “Dazlak” puts his arm around Jenny.
