Sommer auf drei Rädern (2022)

The insecure, shy Flake fails to tell his classmate Leonie that he loves her. When he takes the blame for a car accident they were both involved in to protect Leonie, he meets the petty criminal Kim while doing his community service. Her boyfriend has persuaded her to transport a large quantity of cocaine to Bregenz. Flake and Kim deliver meals on wheels in an Ape, and the embittered Phillip joins them. A former competitive athlete, he has relied on a wheelchair since an accident. Kim decides to drive the Ape to Lake Constance for the weekend. She persuades Flake by suggesting that he might get to talk to Leonie there, but in reality she plans to use him as an unwitting courier. From here on, the film is a road movie. Along the way, they incur the wrath of Norbert, a nationalist prepper, by stealing his fuel; fall into the clutches of Eva, a thieving street prostitute; and get into a confrontation with a wheelchair basketball team. They lose their vehicle to the team, but then steal it back. The cocaine handoff is complicated when Norbert captures them again and demands the money from the deal. Norbert and the recipient are caught up in a police operation at the handoff location. Kim, Flake, and Phillip get away, then go their separate ways. In a brief conversation with Leonie, Flake realizes that he does not love her after all, but has long since fallen for Kim. Kim has already broken up with her ex after realizing that he had only pretended there was an urgent drug deal. Flake catches up with her in Phillip’s wheelchair, and they get together.
