Full plot (contains spoilers)
Lisa Taubenbaum and Thomas Zellinger are sleeping next to each other in bed when they are abruptly woken by their smartphones ringing at the same time. They have both been summoned to the foot of a cliff at Teufelstein. There they meet Zellinger’s colleague Alessia Vogler, who has recently joined the police force. The case concerns the body of a young woman, Dorothea Blum. It is suspected that she died by suicide, since she is said to have sent her twin sister Kim a farewell text message. Later, Lisa sits down with local police officer Alex, who tells her that Dorothea Blum had driven drunk, run over a woman, and would soon have to go to prison as a result. Back at the shop, someone knocks: Tassilo Hoferichter would like to see the dead woman. Since he cannot prove that he is entitled to do so, he is not allowed. Zellinger tells Lisa that he has been offered a job at the BKA in Wiesbaden. Lisa then decides to take a look at the place where the woman died. She finds some flowers left in remembrance of the deceased. After climbing up the cliff, she witnesses Hoferichter arguing with another man. She shows a recording made on her smartphone to Dorothea’s widower Oliver and her sister Kim; both claim not to know the men. After Hoferichter is found stabbed to death, it seems likely that Dorothea’s death was a staged suicide. A video that influencer Wanda had posted now appears online. It shows that Dorothea’s smartphone was thrown after her toward the place where the body was later found. It turns out that Hoferichter was a monk from a monastery. In conversations with Prior Albertus, Zellinger learns that Albertus and Brother Vinzent had run a mail-order business selling religious articles together. Since Vinzent has disappeared, a search is launched for him. Later, he is found at the monastery, where he had been hiding. He admits that he had argued with Hoferichter because Hoferichter was having an affair with Kim. Carlo Mälzer, the widower of the woman who was run over, now comes under suspicion. However, he has verified alibis for the times of the crimes. A conversation with their neighbor Johanna Haberkern gives Lisa clues about Oliver’s relationship with his wife and sister-in-law. Eventually, it turns out that the dead woman was actually Kim, whom her twin sister Dorothea had pushed off the cliff. In a subplot, Yannick Schermski introduces himself as a funeral celebrant. After boasting that he could wear a Roman helmet, Alfons Taubenbaum asks him to take a box to the police. The box contains that helmet, which turns out to be a stolen original. Yannick is arrested immediately.
