Full plot (contains spoilers)
Robert and Ellen Lunt live with their son Tobias in a lovely detached house. On his eighth birthday, while on his way to piano lessons, Tobias falls into the hands of a child kidnapper outside the instructor’s house. Against his wife Ellen’s wishes, his father Robert contacts the police. Overwhelmed by the situation, Ellen makes a harsh remark: “If he does anything to Tobias, I’ll kill him.” Robert tries to stay calm and, in the meantime, obtains the money needed to ransom Tobias. The ransom demand is a hefty 500,000 euros. There is no question that the respected sociology professor Robert Lunt is willing to raise the money for his son. However, the first attempt to hand over the money fails. The parents jointly decide to carry out the next exchange without the police knowing. But the situation gets out of control when Ellen believes she has recognized the kidnapper, and their marriage is now put to a severe test. The protagonists come face to face at a remote mountain cabin, and the vengeance of a mother whose son has been taken from her naturally does not come without consequences.
