A medical student’s drug use draws his father into an impulsive effort to pull him out of the drug mire.

The story

Paul is a medical student who has spent more time enjoying university life—and using drugs—than studying. When his dealer Glatze’s courier cannot complete a delivery under mysterious circumstances, Paul gets the chance to take over the next shipment and is supposed to smuggle it across the border. He samples the merchandise and, the next day, finds himself in the hospital after a bad trip. He escapes, makes his way back to his apartment, and collapses again. Meanwhile, his father Willi hears what has happened and sets off on a spur-of-the-moment mission to get Paul out of the drug mire.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Paul is a medical student, but so far he has spent his time at university enjoying life, including by using drugs. After his dealer Glatze’s courier is unable to make a delivery under mysterious circumstances, Paul gets the chance to take over the next shipment. He is supposed to smuggle it across the border. Unfortunately, he samples the stuff and, the next day, finds himself in the hospital after a bad trip. He escapes from there, drags himself back to his apartment, and collapses again. Meanwhile, his father Willi has gotten wind of what happened and sets off on a spur-of-the-moment mission to get his son out of the drug mire. After a successful rescue, he locks Paul in his old dog cage and tries to force him to memorize the Bastei pulp novel The Woman Who Doubted Dr. Fabian so that he’ll finally do something for his studies. Meanwhile, the dealer Ingo sets out with his disabled half-brother Super to retrieve his merchandise. Paul’s girlfriend Lena also sets off to find him. In the meantime, Paul and his father begin to work through their strained father-son relationship, which culminates in Willi getting his son to help him win back his former wife—Paul’s mother. When the drug dealers finally track down the supposed drug thief, Paul only just manages to survive.
