Dimitrios Schulze (2016)

Dimitrios Schulze is a Greek-descended lawyer who looks after his clients in his multicultural neighborhood of Jungbusch, but also helps out at his mother’s greengrocer’s shop and promotes himself by rapping in music videos. His methods are sometimes unconventional, and he always has a cheeky quip ready. He is at odds with investigator Sultan Cakmak ever since he once stole Laura, his friend at the time’s girlfriend, away from him. Dimitrios is now in a relationship with his girlfriend Abeo, who works in a bridal shop. First, Samira, a drug-addicted Moroccan woman, steals jewelry from Abeo’s shop. Dimitrios takes care of Samira and, thanks to his good relationship with Judge Dr. Petöfi, manages to keep her out of pretrial detention, much to Sultan Cakmak’s annoyance. She is admitted to a psychiatric hospital, and her boyfriend and pimp, Yasser Abacki, takes her back in. A short time later, construction manager Alexa seeks out Dimitrios because Samira’s boyfriend Yasser appears to be dead in her van, and she needs a lawyer. It turns out, however, that Yasser is only injured. Nevertheless, Alexa is still accused of attempted manslaughter. Complicating matters further, Dimitrios’s ex-girlfriend Laura and Sultan Cakmak accuse him of cheating on his bar exam. Laura had access to the answer key at the time and would testify that she gave it to Dimitrios. Dimitrios’s license to practice law and his reputation in the neighborhood are therefore at stake. Despite everything, Dimitrios manages to help solve the attempted-manslaughter case with his keen instincts, thereby clearing his client Alexa. It was not Alexa who injured Yasser, but Samira, who fought back against her humiliating boyfriend. In the end, Dimitrios uses a clever chess move to persuade Laura to refuse to testify.
