Two impostors mistaken for naval officers collide with an unprepared mountain troop facing an inspection.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Rear Admiral Dagobert von Kattnig develops a rescue system for the German Navy, abbreviated A.R.SCH. The device is supposed to be tested by the mountain troops in Upper Bavaria, and the rear admiral sends his son, Captain Heinz von Kattnig, and his staff petty officer, Wigbert Kraft, there to inspect it. But the mountain troops have not tested the device at all, since they are usually busy enjoying their quiet life. The colonel is therefore very nervous when he hears that an inspection is imminent. At the station, mountain trooper Ignaz Hund mistakes the two representatives, Momme Schulz and Adam Kahlfuß, for the two naval officers. They play along because they have no money to make ends meet. When the real naval officers arrive, chaos ensues.
