Eltern mit Hindernissen (2020)

Katrin Wiedemann is about to give birth to her third child and is on the verge of becoming a school principal. She has no doubt that she can balance children and career, especially since her husband Philipp has promised to take all of his parental leave. However, Dr. Schulze Stadler, the current principal, who is looking for a suitable successor, does not share Katrin’s view and therefore asks Philipp to take over the principal’s position temporarily after the birth of little Isalie, known as “Isi.” Philipp thinks he is doing Katrin a favor, so he agrees. This leads to a marital crisis, and the arguing parents accidentally leave their baby at the local baby hatch. Philipp and Katrin are now also under the scrutiny of Frau Hödl from the youth welfare office. On top of that, Katrin’s self-centered father Horst and her domineering former mother-in-law Diana unexpectedly show up to meet baby Isalie. The chaos reaches its peak when Katrin’s lover Marcel suddenly appears, suspecting that he is Isi’s father. Finally, Beate Lechner also turns up, looking for her ex, Horst. Tensions run high until Philipp and Katrin remember what matters most to them. Horst, who had been staying with Katrin temporarily, moves out and in with Diana. With support from their two older children, Saskia and Leo, Katrin manages to convince the school administration and Principal Schulze Stadler that family and career can indeed be balanced.
