Hairdresser Mandy dreams of marriage and meets Fritz, a charming young blind man. Across their intersecting lives, the women confront uncertainty in love, family, and work.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Fe Wilke is a successful model booker who, bowing to the pressures of her career, would rather spend her free time looking after her protégées than her husband, Mark. Shortly before setting off on the honeymoon they have yet to take, Fe signs up the fragile and naive model Mira for a campaign. After an unhappy breakup and a subsequent breakdown, Mira is trying to find her way back to her personal life and professional routine through self-therapy. When the day of departure coincides with a test shoot for Mira, Fe feels compelled to cancel the trip she and Mark had planned. He gives her an ultimatum: if Fe does not want to go with him, he will file for divorce. Only with Mira’s help does Fe finally manage to realize what really matters to her. Karo Richter is a homemaker whose daily life is shaped by her husband, Tom, and their three children. But the state of their marital bedroom is increasingly disrupting the family idyll: Tom withholds physical affection from her. Karo sublimates the lack of sex by working around the house and garden. It is only when she unexpectedly sees Tom one afternoon viewing an apartment in the city that she thinks she understands the real reason for his rejection: he is having an affair and is already arranging to move out. Furious, Karo plans to beat Tom to it and promptly hires a real estate agent to sell their house in the countryside. But when Tom discovers what she has done, she realizes that she has once again misjudged her husband. Karo’s closest confidante, Frieda, runs a neighborhood café and is a committed single woman. Unlike her friend, she spends her evenings in Berlin’s club scene and in the beds of strangers. For all her fear of commitment, she refuses to let herself have feelings—even though she certainly has no shortage of offers. The vivacious Charlie Fiedler is a single mother to a three-year-old girl. An eternal intern, she feels trapped between her own dreams of a promising career and her lack of the financial means to raise her daughter. When she gets another internship after an interview at a real estate agency, she senses her big chance: if she can find model Mira a new place to live, she can hope for a permanent position. But Mira makes it anything but easy for Charlie to break through. Hairdresser Mandy, meanwhile, longs for her Prince Charming. While one new acquaintance after another falls into her colleague’s lap, all Mandy has are rosy daydreams of a happy marriage. She sees the main obstacles as her plump figure and other people’s lack of acceptance. One afternoon at Frieda’s café, she meets Fritz, a charming young blind man, and believes she has finally found the man of her life. But Fritz does not show up for their planned date.
