Full plot (contains spoilers)
A naked man has fallen to his death from an upper floor of an apartment building. While Goster and several colleagues investigate the presumed crime scene, an empty apartment, a sudden shot fired through a locked door kills one of the police officers. Goster suffers a heart attack and collapses unconscious. The shooter is nowhere to be found. What remains is the mystery of a fired gun in an empty, locked room, and Inspector Goster, who must have seen the supposed double murderer. But his memories have been wiped out by losing consciousness during the heart attack. With the help of his young, humorous and conscientious colleague Hannelore Klost, the facts surrounding the dead man are established. Where the weapon came from, what the dead man was doing in the empty apartment, and why he was wearing a geranium behind his ear are all unanswered questions. As the pieces of the puzzle are assembled, house calls, arrests and interrogations are carried out, an absurd sex-dating website is tracked down, and the case seems to fall into place, Goster increasingly suspects that it is the guns themselves that are shooting at people.
