Hals über Kopf (2023)

Ella Lannau is the daughter of banker Eduard Lannau. On the day of the wedding to Marcel Katzenbach, arranged by her father, she escapes into the trunk of a Bentley. The car is stolen by Richie, who had actually given up his career as a petty criminal and is now building a house. However, he owes money to “Uncle Siggi.” After Richie discovers Ella in the trunk, he takes her to his construction site. Ella takes off her wedding dress and, with Richie’s help, decides to stage her own kidnapping. On a USB stick, Ella has documents about various schemes involving her family, including money laundering, tax evasion, and kickback payments. A prosecutor is among the beneficiaries. The SOKO Lannau, led by Colonel Lippowitz and Inspector Fichtl, is to be shut down, and Lippowitz must prove Director Lannau’s guilt in time. The kidnapping is reported on television, and Uncle Siggi decides to collect the millions in ransom. Richie’s girlfriend Christine is kidnapped as a fake bride. A handover is eventually supposed to take place in a warehouse. There, Uncle Siggi and Eduard Lannau are arrested by the police. ZIB 20 reports on arrests and charges in the Lannauer Bank scandal, following new leads and with the help of crown witness Ella Lannauer. Marcel Katzenbach is among those charged, and the very prosecutor who originally charged Lannau is also under suspicion. Richie breaks up with Christine, and Ella divides the ransom money among the homebuilders affected by the bank’s collapse. Ella and Richie, who have grown closer in the meantime, kiss, and the Bentley is left to them.
